Trail Overview

Fh1028 is a primary gravel access road that connects to Fh1029 and Fh1001. It serves as the main route into the Fishhooks area, McKinney Mountain, and several other surrounding trails. This is a wide, two-lane gravel road with beamed edges and is commonly traveled. While it may appear suitable for higher speeds, use caution--there are several hidden notches and dips on downhill sections that are difficult to see until you are on top of them. Hitting these at speed could cause vehicle damage. The road offers expansive views overlooking the town of Emery, with mountain ranges stretching both to the south and north, including China Peak. The route crosses a few low-lying areas and winds around several hills along the way. Exercise caution during bad weather. Heavy rain can cause washouts, standing water, or flash flood conditions in low sections.
