Trail Overview
The Electric Alien Trees trail is a wide, mostly gravel trail along what some would call a power line road. This trail accesses other trails in the area, but due to a locked gate at the North end, you'll want to access this trail from Alamo Road or the intersecting Joshua Tree Loop trail, on its North end. There are no major obstacles on this trail, and there is sparse cell service, so you'll want offline maps available. This road does have varying terrain, with sections of trail that include deep soft sand through washes, steep hill climbs with loose rock, water damage, erosion, and rocky sections. All this while enjoying some of the oldest and most dense areas of Joshua Trees in the American Southwest. There are many gates along this trail, with signage to remember to close them behind you, as this area is popular with ranchers letting their cattle graze.
