Trail Overview
This 4.5-mile out-and-back trail features a gravel surface and runs through a small canyon full of lots of desert brush surrounded by rock. This is a very scenic and pretty canyon with lots of rock formations to enjoy throughout, making it one of the more visually interesting routes in the area. The trail gets much rockier at the very end, changing the surface conditions significantly as you approach the terminus. There are spots to stop and hike along the way where you can explore the canyon and rock formations on foot. Be on the lookout for wild burros that frequent this canyon environment.
Difficulty
The gravel surface is manageable for most of the route, but the trail gets much rockier at the very end, which increases the technical challenge and requires high clearance. The canyon setting with desert brush creates some navigation considerations. Four wheel drive is recommended for the rockier sections. The scenic nature and rock formations make the moderate difficulty worthwhile.
