Trail Overview
While most washes have fun names or names of the water flow that made them, this one is named after the family that tragically lost their lives where the Old Mormon Wagon Trail intersects this wash. A cross marking the location of where they found the parents' bodies can be seen at the location. Inside that cross is a copy of the story and the misfortune of the family is described. The wash is a relatively easy one to ride and there are some short fun areas. The wash does narrow substantially near the top and alternative trails are available for wider vehicles. 60-inch machines barely make it through a very narrow area in the wash, so taking the alternatives you can see out of the valley is probably advisable. The climb on the southwest end is a little steep and rocky but nothing that most off-road capable vehicles should have difficulty handling. As with all washes, do not enter this wash if there are thunderstorms or other inclement weather in the area.
Difficulty
This is an easy wash to ride until you get near the top. Near the top the wash narrows very quickly and you can barely get a 60-inch machine through the last narrow section. There are off-camber alternate routes just to the west outside of the wash to complete the climb up to the powerline visible on the ridge above. The final climb is somewhat steep but nothing too scary if care is observed.
