Trail Overview

This trail will take you along the Hassayampa River. Often, the river is dry or shallow. There are some great shady spots provided by beautiful redrock walls. You can get off the trail on Rincon Road, but the river is way more fun and scenic. There are some fun side trips available for ATVs and UTVs.

Difficulty

Easy: Trail is mostly soft sand with occasional wet sections. Air down tires for better traction or follow existing tracks. Flash flooding is possible following heavy rains. Suitable for stock high-clearance 4WD SUVs.

Went from Rincon Rd staging to mine. Trail was mostly dry and dusty. Vehicles ranging from SxS to trucks with trailers. Mostly sandy wash, some washboarding, a few rocks. "Hardest" part was the pools in the narrowest section of Box Canyon. About 1.5 to 2 ft deep. We stayed right and kept our momentum as it was soft, no issues.

Really fun trail. Lots of deep sand or rocks to drive through, you can choose whichever one. If you stick to the main wash it’s fairly wide with a few side trails to check out. As you get closer to box canyon it will narrow down. Lots of great areas at the opening of the box canyon itself with tree coverage for shade or to set up a pop up tent for a BBQ or spend the day out there. Super fun and will definitely be visiting again

South West trail start is blocked by barbed wire fence “private property”. Continue north on South Rincon to next dirt parking and then down to wash.

More water than there was a month ago. The deepest the water was no more then 12”. The sand was pretty soft in some spots.
