Trail Overview
BLM 32K is an exhilarating, 1.3-mile point-to-point sandy two-track that plunges explorers deep into a highly scenic, meandering desert wash. The adventure begins with a steep, dramatic drop directly down into the carved-out wash below. Once fully immersed inside the wash bottom, the terrain transforms into an incredibly fun, fluid drive featuring deep, vivid red sand and beautifully sweeping, banked turns that naturally encourage a faster driving pace. However, off-roaders must remain highly vigilant; the winding nature of the sunken trail creates extremely limited sight lines, making it difficult to spot oncoming traffic or sudden hazards around the bends. The vibrant orange and red dirt walls contrast brilliantly against the bright blue sky and the scattered green desert scrub lining the rim. The journey concludes shortly after the trail crosses over BLM 32A, where the distinct track quickly peters out and permanently dead-ends in the brush.
Difficulty
BLM 32K confidently earns a Level 3 Moderate rating. While the trail is generally considered a relatively easy and flowing drive, it demands specific vehicle capabilities to avoid getting hopelessly stuck. The primary technical hazard is a distinct sandstone obstacle located immediately after the steep drop into the wash, which requires careful tire placement and good clearance. Furthermore, the exceptionally deep, power-sapping sand mandates the use of a true four-wheel-drive system and significantly lowered tire air pressures to maintain essential flotation. Standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) crossovers with low ground clearance will struggle immensely and are highly likely to bottom out or lose traction in these soft, demanding conditions.
