Trail Overview
Bird Pole is a short single track, but it has a steep climb that will be a good challenge for newer riders. It’s less than half a mile long, connecting Backyard to a full-width road. It starts out by crossing a wash that is a mix of sand and bigger rocks, then starts climbing up a steep slope that is full of loose, round rocks and a bigger embedded rock face, which will be a good test of traction, and you want to keep your momentum up. It has a big ocotillo cactus sticking out into the trail that you have to maneuver around. It continues to sidehill around the edge of the hillside on the narrow singletrack, taking you up to the top of the hill where the trail ends.
Difficulty
This trail is more moderate due to most of the trail being one big climb. It is steep with loose rocks, plus one bigger embedded rock face. Additionally, the trail is narrow with mild exposure, making it ideal for riders with a bit more experience.
