Trail Overview
The trail is situated within the Belmont Mountain range, beginning off the historic Belmont Mountain Trail. The path includes several challenging sections, such as small, loose rocky climbs and a shelf-like road that runs alongside a wash. At one point, the route crosses a wash, which contains loose sand and gravel. The area is home to several wild animals, including mule deer and bighorn sheep. While sightings of deer and bighorn sheep are rare, they are particularly memorable when they occur, highlighting the natural beauty and diversity of the region. As the trail ascends toward the mine, it becomes steeper and narrower, with larger loose rocks posing additional challenges. The trail concludes on a plateau that offers breathtaking views and a short walk to the mine entrance. For safety reasons, it is important to avoid entering the mine or any nearby mines. It is recommended to carry a Arizona Trust Land Permit.
Difficulty
Mostly mild, with some loose rocks at times, a sandy wash crossing, and a steep, larger loose‑rock hill at the end of the trail.
