Trail Overview
USFSR #643C Kentuck OHV Trailhead is a short, 0.6-mile dirt connector trail in the Talladega National Forest designed for ATVs, dirt bikes, and mountain bikes seeking direct access to the popular Kentuck OHV trail system. This easy route features minimal elevation changes, ranging from 846 feet to 875 feet, making it accessible for riders of all skill levels. The path serves as the main gateway to 23 miles of easy-to-moderate trails divided into four distinct loops. Despite its short distance and gentle grade, the main corridor can develop large mud holes due to water runoff, though these obstacles typically have hard bottoms and can be easily bypassed.
Ample amenities are available at the trailhead, including trailer parking, a designated loading and unloading area, restrooms, and picnic sites equipped with tables. A daily fee of five dollars per operator is required to access the trail system, which is seasonally open from April 1 through December 31. This route is accessed by taking a left at the gate off USFSR #643, also known as Stephens Street. The surrounding National Forest offers excellent opportunities for primitive camping, hiking, and exploring the scenic Appalachian foothills of Alabama.
