Trail Overview

Switchback is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail renowned for its steep climbs, tight switchbacks, and rocky terrain, making it a favorite for experienced off-roaders. Key challenges include an initial steep climb, stay to the left if you want to tackle a harder line and try and climb the large sand rock, a second steeper incline with off-camber sections, and a final ascent scattered with large rocks. The trail's four sharp turns require precise navigation, especially for longer vehicles. Wet weather greatly increases difficulty, often rendering the trail nearly impassable. This technical, one-way route offers a rewarding challenge for those seeking an adrenaline-filled adventure.

Difficulty

Switchback's difficulty rating of 5 is due to its steep 30-degree climbs, tight switchbacks requiring multi-point turns, and large 2-foot rock obstacles where lockers are recommended. Off-camber sections and weather-dependent conditions add to the challenge, making it suitable only for experienced drivers with well-equipped vehicles.
