Trail Overview

This is a bi-directional trail that connects Little Coon River Trail to Poplar Springs Trail. When running from Little Coon River Trail, you will start out by climbing up an area of large slick rock and dirt. Some areas on the elevation change will be loose rock that can cause some traction issues. There will be a few sharp turns and then the trail will have smaller rocks with a steady incline. There are a few areas where there will be some slick areas during times of rain. This is an easier trail that can be done without lockers normally. The trail is prone to having more trees fall than the surrounding trails so be prepared to remove the tree to continue or turn around. This trail does continue on into Tennessee but there is a turnaround at the state line where you can go back and complete the Poplar Springs Trail.

The first half of the trail after the pull off of Little C00n River Trail was fairly easy rock climbing with some steep soft/muddy inclines. There are some trees down that you can navigate around carefully. However the forest soon gets tighter to the road leaving little clearance on the sides. There were multiple downed trees in this section but they were either small enough to climb over or someone had already made an impromptu by pass. We made it around these (with difficulty) and ended up by a small pond close to the turn to Poplar Springs Trail. The trail got so tight here we bumped a tree and realized that the rock sliders if not the car itself would not let us between the next two trees. We did our best to reverse down the trail to somewhere big enough to do a "106-point turn". Left with a couple bumps and bruises. Learning Experience for us, but the current On X rating is not adequate as it is much more difficult. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than skinny Jeeps. (we were in a 4runner ORP)
