Trail 406D is mostly mud, but there are some competition hills along the route, like Big John Hill and Hamburger Hill. The first part of this trail goes downwards with a steep grade, and when wet, you just slide down, which the trail is almost always wet. This part of the trail is also off-camber, making it more difficult. The rest of the trail is just a lot of shallow mud holes through the woods.
