Trail Overview

The Sierra San Felipe Foothills trail is a true test of suspension and driver focus, running parallel to the dramatic spine of the Sierra San Felipe. This off-camber, high-clearance 4x4 route is known for its relentless whoops and deep ruts that snake through the desert floor like a roller coaster built by nature--and the Baja 250. The trail surface is soft and very sandy, with large, uneven whoops dominating much of the ride. Deep ruts along the path make high clearance absolutely essential--vehicles without it risk getting high-centered in multiple sections. Despite the rugged terrain, the landscape is classic Baja beauty: lined with tall Ocotillos, hardy Creosote bushes, and clusters of desert cacti, all set against the striking backdrop of the Sierra San Felipe range.
