Trail Overview

The Playa Blanca Wash Loop is a mellow, sandy off-road trail that begins on the north side of the old, abandoned village of Playa Blanca. The route skirts the edge of this forgotten settlement before dipping into a soft, meandering wash that heads southwest, away from the Sea of Cortez. The trail down into the wash consists primarily of deep sand, making tire deflation essential for maintaining traction. As the route winds through the wash, it narrows in spots and is lined with dense creosote trees, adding a remote, tucked-away feel to the journey. Though not technically challenging, the soft terrain and natural beauty make this an enjoyable, relaxing, off-road drive.
