El Hongo Prison Loop

This route starts on Mexico 2 Libre, looping around the El Hongo Prison area before reconnecting with the highway. The first half mile is deteriorated pavement, mostly covered with dirt, leading to a graded dirt road navigable by any high-clearance vehicle. It's a pleasant tour through the lower part of the pueblo, featuring many properties and projects for sale along the way. A left turn takes you onto a new pipeline route that currently dead-ends due to ongoing construction. The planned route was intended to continue to the Laguna Hansen Trail, but this was postponed when the road was blocked, necessitating more planning for the new, more challenging trail. The unplanned final left turn guides you past the prison area and back to Mexico 2.
