Trail Overview
This route offers a slightly challenging but rewarding off-road experience, with most of the trail consisting of shallow to medium-deep sand set against the backdrop of contrasting salt lakes and ocean views. The trail initially provides smooth conditions and good traction along the lakes. After climbing out of the lake area, you'll encounter deeper sand, though it's manageable for most drivers. The route weaves through expansive farmland before leading to a scenic coastal road, with side roads offering detours to cliffside viewpoints above the ocean. As you approach La Chorera, stunning ocean views unfold, and the blend of unique structures with the seascape creates a striking sight. In town, you have options--head right toward Punto Mazo, a beautiful nature reserve, or continue straight along a rough washboard road that eventually leads back to Highway 1, passing other interesting sites and trails along the way.
