Trail Overview

Remote dirt road route connecting Catavina to the tiny fishing village of San Jose del Faro on the Pacific Coast. This route is popular with the dual-sport touring motorcycle crowd as well as surfers looking to access parts of the famous Seven Sisters surf breaks. This route is easy when dry and can be accessed by most vehicles. It is a good choice for Sprinter vans.

We rated this trail up from a two to a three. If you decide to take this with a vehicle like a sprinter van, make sure you have 4 low, and an experience driver. It’s definitely gotten more difficult since the Original post likely because of a Baja 1000 event following. The sandy long downhill at about the 10 mile mark has gotten deeper and would be very difficult to get back up heading north if you don’t have 4x4 and low air. And about 13 miles from the end there’s a very steep 35 m long hill that’s partially bedded in and partially rocky. That would be difficult without 4 low and good clearance. Other than that, just make sure if you plan to head all the way down the coast to Santa Rosaliita be aware that it’s about 150 miles to the next official gas station in Jesus Maria from the start of the trail.
