Trail Overview
Leaving the small town of Reforma Agraria, this off-road route quickly transitions from pavement to remote desert terrain, leading south into a landscape of sand, scattered ranches, and rugged beauty. Along the way, red-painted tires marked with small rabbit symbols guide travelers toward the Rabbit Hole, a secluded desert camp. The sandy road is generally navigable in a 2WD vehicle, but the ability to air down tires or engage 4WD can be useful in rougher sections. The route winds past ranch fences, weaving through medium-height desert vegetation dotted with El Cordon cacti. Wildlife is abundant, with bobcats, coyotes, deer, and numerous bird species inhabiting the area. A sharp left at another red tire leads past a ranch, and about a mile ahead, the road reaches a T-intersection. From here, a left turn returns to Highway 1, while a right leads to another junction that branches into multiple off-road trails.
