Trail Overview

Spire Trail is an adventurous 2.6-mile forest loop off Aberdeen Lake Road, offering four-wheel-drive and SxS drivers a quick, rugged challenge with rewarding forest scenery. This unmaintained side spur, historically used for logging, takes travelers through a climb and descent with elevations ranging between 4,038 feet and 4,293 feet. Rating as a technical level 4, the terrain features deep ruts and decommissioned sections that require careful crawling and a vehicle equipped with decent ground clearance to successfully negotiate. With zero winter maintenance and very little summer upkeep, the trail conditions can become exceptionally tough to navigate, particularly when snowpack turns the route into a demanding slog. It is best suited for experienced drivers in high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles who can handle unpredictable natural obstacles. The route conveniently connects back to the mainline near Duteau Creek Forest Service Road, making it an excellent, short addition to a day of exploring the larger network of forest service roads in the area.
