Trail Overview

This easy route provides access from the south section of LinkLater Forest Service Road over to the lower lake area of Lake Koocanusa near Gold Creek Bay. This trail is a great way to connect from the network of trails off of LinkLater FSR to the Kikomun-Newgate paved road. The trail is well-maintained, and generally, there are lots of side trails to explore. The route is curvy and fun. A major highlight of the trail is when the trail comes around a corner, and magically, there's a lake that spills right over the trail at the edge. It's a really amazing sight to see with a stunning mountain backdrop behind it! There is one bar of LTE cell service, but you will want to download offline maps. Be aware of logging operations in the area.

Difficulty

This is a wide, well-maintained dirt trail that is mostly two vehicles wide. Some spots will require oncoming vehicles to pull off or back up. The section of the trail that crosses the water could be impassable in the springtime.
