Trail Overview
Coopers Hang Gliding is a rugged 3.67-mile point-to-point offroad route near Coldstream, British Columbia, that connects the power line service road to the Bardolph Lake Forest Service Road (FSR), offering a challenging drive with scenic mountain backdrops. This trail is ideal for intermediate drivers in high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles or SxSs looking to navigate moderately technical terrain. The initial climb along the power lines features loose, large rocks and noticeable water erosion, requiring careful tire placement and steady traction. As the route climbs from 2,133 feet to its peak at 3,403 feet, drivers will experience a cumulative elevation gain of over 1,336 feet.
Continuing past the power lines, the trail transitions onto the Bardolph Lake FSR where users will encounter a road closure near Coldstream Creek. From this point, a heavily overgrown side spur branches off, leading to a secluded grassy clearing at the end of the track. While this clearing lacks expansive views, it provides a quiet, remote spot suitable for primitive camping. Navigating this final section requires pushing through tight brush that will likely cause minor paint scratches, often referred to locally as BC pinstripes, making it less suitable for those wishing to keep their vehicle's finish pristine.
