Trail Overview

Christian Valley is an easy, scenic forest service road perfect for drivers of all skill levels who want a relaxing route along the Kettle River. Spanning roughly 17 miles, this well-maintained resource road features minimal elevation changes between 2,330 feet and 2,670 feet. The route follows the winding Kettle River. Because this is an active industrial corridor, drivers must watch for oncoming logging trucks and should use a two-way radio to call out kilometer markers, particularly on weekdays when industrial traffic is heaviest. Beyond the main route, the valley offers numerous side roads and spurs to explore, making it a popular destination for dispersed camping, fishing, and staging other outdoor activities. Traffic increases significantly during the summer months for recreation and peaks again in the autumn due to regional hunting seasons. While the road is graded and straightforward to navigate, travelers should prepare for dusty conditions in the dry season and potential mud or snow during late autumn and winter.
