Trail Overview

Note: After marker 39, the trail is only accessible from December 31 to March 31. It's a fairly easy trail depending on snowfall that most 4x4s will be able to do;the more snow, the harder it will be. You will be greeted with some absolutely beautiful scenery, water crossings, and a frozen waterfall in the winter months. It's recommended that you travel with another vehicle due to unpredictable weather and snowfall. In years with heavier snowfall, it is very possible to become stuck. Take caution on the hill leading down to the valley and coming back up. On this route, you will travel down Ghost Valley Road, which leads to Ghost River Trail and then the falls at marker 39.

Light snow, overall easy , first water crossing had fair size ledges and a deep section on the left side of the crossing, if in a lower clearance vehicle hug the far right of the crossing to avoid the large ledge and deeper water

Trail doesn’t have a whole lot of snow, maybe 1 or 2 inches. Water crossings have some minor ice ledges but wasn’t too slippery when going to the falls. If you go past the falls further down the trail the water crossings get more and more nasty, steeper and icier

Pretty easy trail and pretty nice ride this time of year! Pretty sweet views and easy to get up to if the rivers are low!

Extremely easy trail, basically a rough road down till you get to the Ghost river and even still the trail is easy to follow. If you have a SUV with sufficient ground clearance there’s no reason you can’t make it to the end, I saw a stock ford explorer with 20” wheels camping near the end. Summer time btw winter will make this trail much harder

transalta road is bit of ice and some snow cover but overall good, last hill heading down into the valley is icy. first water crossing the water is low but the ice shelves are very tall so high clearance vehicles are recommended low clearance vehicles will either not make it or may cause damage to their vehicles trying to climb up them, the rest of crossing leading up to falls are good, with little to no water in them and the shelves are low

Snow tracks on the trail were well defined and packed down but not icy. Ice buildups on the river are definitely there but not super steep or thick and still easy to climb over. Overall conditions were prefect for a good afternoon!
