Description
Coyote Gulch and Creekbottom Loop is a short and easy hike located at Bear Creek Regional Park in Colorado Springs. This hike explores some of the western portion of the park. This loop is 1.3 miles long and gains 177 feet of elevation.This hike starts from the Bear Creek Nature Center parking area. The nature center has educational information about the park. Begin hiking east past the nature center and go left at the first junction. You will now cross over Bear Creek. Over the first 0.1 miles, you will encounter 4 junctions. Go left at the first junction and right at the next 2 junctions. Go left at the final junction. Continue hiking amongst trees and shrubs for 0.1 miles to reach another junction and turn right. You will encounter 2 junctions over the next 0.1 miles. Go left at both junctions. The second turn will lead you onto Coyote Gulch Loop.Here, the trail begins to open up more, and you will enjoy mountain views. Hike on Coyote Gulch Loop as it travels from east, to south, to west. After 0.5 miles you will come to a junction. Go right to stay on the loop. 0.1 miles down the trail, you will encounter another junction. Turn left onto Creekbottom Loop. The trail will now be lined with trees and shrubs again. After another 0.1 miles, the trail will begin to parallel Bear Creek. Continue hiking for 0.1 miles to reach another junction. Stay left here. Hike for another 0.1 miles as you cross over Bear Creek and return to the trailhead.Bear Creek Regional Park is open for hiking year round from 5am-9pm. There are no associate fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
