The Lower Bear Creek Loop is a short hike located in Bear Creek Regional Park near Colorado Springs. This trail explores the eastern portion of Bear Creek Regional Park. This loop is 2.6 miles long and gains 206 feet of elevation. This hike starts from a small, dirt parking lot off of Creek Crossing St. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking south and cross a bridge over Bear Creek. After 0.1 miles, you will encounter a junction. Go left to stay on the trail. You will be hiking on a wide and flat trail. After another 0.1 miles, you will cross 2 bridges over Bear Creek. Hike 0.1 more miles to reach a junction. Turn right to begin hiking the loop counterclockwise. As you hike to the west, you will have beautiful views of various Front Range peaks. Another 0.3 miles will bring you to a junction. Go left here to continue the loop. 0.2 miles later, the trail will turn to the south. Another 0.1 miles will bring you to a junction. Go right here. Continue on the trail for 0.3 miles as you begin to head east. Here, you will come to a junction and go right. Hike gradually uphill for 0.2 miles before heading downhill. After 0.4 miles of hiking downhill, you will reach another junction. Go left to stay on the loop. Hike north for 0.2 more miles. At this junction, go left. Travel west on the trail for 0.2 miles before encountering another junction and heading right. 0.1 miles will bring you to one last junction. Go right here and follow the trail over Bear Creek and back to the parking lot.Bear Creek Regional Park is open for hiking year round from 5am-9pm. There are no associate fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must be on a leash at all times.
