Description
Starting from the Mt. Pinos Nordic Base parking lot, climb a steady dirt trail to the summit of Mt. Pinos. At the top, enjoy some great views that include the San Joaquin Valley to the north, the Tehachapis to the east, and the Carrizo Plain and Temblor Mountains to the northwest. The road used to be open to the vehicular traffic, but was closed to motorized traffic once the movement to save the Condors took place. This is a great hike for any level, although the high altitude might get to some. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take as many breaks as you need.
