Description
One of the easiest and most family friendly walking trails inside the Wind Wolves Preserve is the Wildflower Loop Trail. The trail is a gravel track that winds along the slightly sloped landscape, venturing into the grassy landscape with views of the neighboring mountains, before returning back to the trailhead. Along the path, hikers may see some of the cactus that the Wildlands Conservancy is working to restore on the former ranching property. During the spring months, the grassy fields are abloom with wild flowers, which is when this trail sees the most users. The path traces the landscape, dipping down into a seasonal streambed, though otherwise remaining mostly level across the landscape. At around 1 mile, the path is fine for families. Dogs are permitted throughout the preserve on leash. There are two tables located at the parking area, however there are no bathrooms and no water here. There is no shade along the hike, so visitors should prepare for sun exposure during warmer months.Visitors are subject to Preserve rules, which include checking in at the entrance gate, and daily open hours of 8am to 5pm. RVs and Trailers are not permitted inside the preserve.
