The Manetto Hills Park Trail begins near the park’s main access points off Washington Avenue or Mary Court and winds through a narrow corridor of forest in suburban Plainview, New York. The main route follows a gentle ridgeline through mixed woods, offering a mostly flat walk on packed dirt and leaf litter. From the trailhead, follow the clearly worn path into the trees, watching for occasional signs or blazes. The route weaves past several informal junctions—most are side loops or connectors. Stay on the main trail by following the most defined path through the trees. At one of the early forks, stay left to continue along the wooded ridge.
The trail can feel lightly marked in places, so it’s helpful to carry a GPS-enabled map or use a trail app for navigation. Expect occasional mountain bikers, especially on weekends. Wildlife sightings like deer are common, and the forest offers a peaceful feel despite nearby development. There are no reliable water sources along the way, and the start of the trail is not always obvious from the street—users should look for openings in the tree line and confirm location with a map. The route ends and returns along the same trail. This is a good option for an easy walk or run with quiet woodland atmosphere close to town.
