Description
The Templeton Loop is a moderately challenging hike located at Palmer Park near Colorado Springs, Colorado. This trail will take you past many rocky cliffs and rock formations. This loop is 4.2 miles long and gains 547 feet of elevation.This hike starts from the North Canyon Trailhead. There are restrooms available at the trailhead. Begin hiking east on Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail. You will be hiking gradually uphill. After 0.3 miles you will come to a junction ang go straight to stay on Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail. You will be hiking near rocky cliffs and will have views of Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, and Cheyenne Mountain.After another 0.2 miles, you will encounter a junction and go left onto Templeton Trail. Continue hike uphill of 0.1 miles before heading downhill. This section provides the best mountain views. Stay to the right at the next junction in 0.3 miles. The trail is well marked throughout.The trail now starts to be more forested. Travel amongst pine trees and rocky cliffs. Stay right at the next junction in 0.4 miles. You will encounter many junctions. Stay on Templeton Trail at all of them. 1.5 more miles will bring you to Yucca Flats Trailhead. Walk across the parking area and continue on Templeton Trail. After about 0.4 miles, you will have mountain views again. Another 0.4 miles will bring you to another junction. Go left onto Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail. Another junction will be reached 0.2 miles later. Go straight onto North Canon Trail. Follow this trail back to the trailhead.Palmer Park is open 5am-9pm year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash.
