Description
Sentinel Point via Grandview and Cheyenne Trail Loop is a short hike located in Palmer Park in Colorado Springs. This hike explores part of southern Palmer Park. This loop is 3 miles long and gains 269 feet of elevation.This hike starts from the Grandview Overlook Trailhead. There are no amenities at the trailhead. Begin hiking west for 0.1 miles to reach Grandview Overlook. You will have great views of Pikes Peak and various Front Range Peaks from here. Then head east on Grandview Trail. After another 0.1 miles, you will come to a junction. Turn right to stay on Grandview Trail. The trail is mostly flat and amongst trees here. Continue hiking for 0.5 miles to reach a junction. Go right to stay on Grandview Trail. 0.1 miles down the trail, you will turn left onto E Cheyenne Trail. After 0.2 miles, you will come to a junction and stay left. You will encounter another junction in 0.1 miles and stay left.Follow E Cheyenne Trail as it switches back to the east. Over the next 0.2 miles, you will see 2 junctions. Go left at both. Then turn left onto Grandview Trail. Another 0.2 miles will bring you to Sentinel Point. 0.1 miles later, you will turn left onto Palmer Point Trail and begin hiking downhill. This trail parallels the road. After 0.4 miles, turn left onto S Canon Trail. You will now be hiking uphill. 0.2 miles down the trail, turn left onto W Cheyenne Trail. Continue uphill for 0.5 miles before turning right onto Grandview Trail and returning to the trailhead.Palmer Park is open 5am-9pm year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. This trail is also popular with mountain bikers.
