Kinnickinnick Trail is a short hike located at Palmer Park near Colorado Springs. This hike explores the southeastern portion of Palmer Park. This loop is 1.6 miles long and gains 173 feet of elevation.This hike starts from a parking area off of Paseo Rd. There is a picnic area at the trailhead. Begin hiking west on Kinnickinnick Trail. After 0.1 miles, you will come to a junction and stay right.Another 0.1 miles brings you to a second junction. Go left here to stay on Kinnickinnick Trail. You will be hiking through small coniferous trees and shrubs. Another 0.2 miles bring you to 2 junctions. Go right at the first junction and left at the second junction. You will hike downhill for a short distance and then gradually uphill. 0.3 miles down the trail, you will come to a junction and go left. You will now hike downhill for 0.3 miles. Here, you will encounter a parking area and go left to stay on Kinnickinnick Trail. You will now hike gradually uphill near various rock formations. Another 0.3 miles will bring you to a junction. Stay left here. Continue uphill for another 0.1 miles to reach another junction. Go right here. After 0.1 miles, you will come to another junction. Turn right here. Follow the Kinnickinnick Trail for 0.1 more miles to return to the trailhead.Palmer Park is open 5am-9pm year round. There are no associated fees to hike here. Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they are on a leash. This trail is also popular with mountain bikers. Kinnickinnick Trail is an easy way to explore a section of Palmer Park.
