Description
This trail is not nearly as crowded as the nearby Wind Cave Trail, and it is not part of the Usery Mountain Park. Most access seems to be from a small parking area at the end of N Meridian Dr. where it intersects with W. McDowell. There is a sad, empty "Information" board and not much to indicate what you're in for. From the parking area, the trail splits and you can go left or right. This trail is the one to the right, but they join back together before the primary climb to the saddle. The trail to the saddle is pretty easy to follow, despite not being marked at all. It is very rocky and is obviously not a maintained trail; it feels a lot like a drainage channel to me, but it is navigable all the way to the saddle. Be prepared for a workout--it is a constant climb.
