This section of the Finger Lakes Trail begins on Kingsbury Hill Road near Franklinville and heads east across private property before entering Bush Hill State Forest. The route winds through a mix of dense pine stands and mature hardwoods, crossing seasonal roads like Peet Hill Road and several small streams along the way. After a rolling descent and climb through forested ridges, the trail reaches its endpoint near Stebbins Road at the eastern edge of the state forest.
Trail users can follow the white blazes of the Finger Lakes Trail and North Country Trail throughout the route. An internal forest road offers a shorter route option within the state forest. Camping is allowed in the forest following DEC guidelines, but is prohibited on private land near the western trailhead. This route is best in spring through fall, though it remains accessible with snow gear in winter. Hikers will find a quiet, moderately challenging walk with classic upland forest scenery and seasonal solitude.
