There and Back
This out-and-back route to Weetamoo Cliff begins at the Great Woods Road Trailhead within Lynn Woods Reservation in Lynn, Massachusetts. From the trailhead, head northwest on Ox Pasture Road before turning left onto Overlook Trail. Follow the trail west through the wooded wetlands of Meeting House Swamp, where footing may be uneven in wet conditions. The trail curves gradually north and begins a moderate ascent toward the base of the cliff. At the top, turn right onto a short spur trail that leads to the open ledge of Weetamoo Cliff. From this broad rock outcrop, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views across the surrounding forest and reservoirs.
After enjoying the overlook, retrace your steps back to the trailhead. Trail markings can be inconsistent, so carry a map or GPS to assist with navigation. Expect rocky and rooty terrain along the way, and plan on wearing sturdy footwear. This day-use route is open year-round and is a great option for a short hike with rewarding views near Boston’s North Shore.
