Description
The Spring Run Trail is one of two short hiking trails in Ponce De Leon Springs State Park that traces a path along the clear emerald-hued spring run as it makes its way to its confluence with Sandy Creek. The Spring Run Trail follows a narrow loop path with the spring run's length making up one side while the tea-colored Sandy Creek forms the opposite edge. The trail is flat and offers views of both waterways, while several benches and wooden bridges line the path. Several interpretive signs offer information about the pines growing along the trail. The trail's access to the gentle spring run may offer a desireable alternative to the crowded main swimming area during the summer months. The trail can be reached by crossing a footbridge at the edge of the Ponce De Leon Springs' main swimming area. It should be noted that a storm in mid-2018 damaged many of the trees throughout the park and clean-up efforts continue to be ongoing.
