Description
This trail is a remnant of the Masters Course golf cart path for holes 5 and 10-18. The bridges at holes #4 and #5 are no longer in place. Pavement remains on most of the trail with dirt and overgrown vegetation on short segments. Compared to the Presidents and Challenger trails, there are more trees and much more ground vegetation. Chances of seeing birds and other wildlife are greater. I recommend long pants, sturdy shoes and mosquito repellent. The trail is best accessed from Bear Creek Pioneer Park using one of the Presidents trails. The roads that led to the now-removed clubhouse from Clay and Highway 6 are closed. The land is leased to Harris County from the US Corps of Engineers and is part of Addicks Reservoir. Bear Creek Golf World was flooded during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and was not re-opened. "Opened in 1968 by the father of daily fee golf in Texas, the late Dick Forester, Bear Creek was a facility that truly did accommodate every level of player with all three courses designed by the late Jay Riviere. The Challenger was an executive style course (and priced accordingly) that played just over 5,000 yards from the tips. The Presidents Course was around 6,500 yards from the tips, a good test for most players. And the Masters Course, which could be tipped out at more than 7,200 yards, had hosted college level tournaments at one time as well as local professional events."
