There and Back
Access to Terry Hershey is available off the feeder road of Beltway 8 or from Memorial Drive. This route begins at the Mockingbird Trail at the western end of the park. Like all of the main trails of this park, this one is paved. You won't want for company as several people can be seen road biking, jogging, or walking every day. As hikers continue to work their way east, the trail will transition to the Quail Trail, and will pass by the entrance to the Robin Trail. The going will continue to be easy, as the paved trails continue without much elevation change. This series of paved trails also connect to George Bush Park which boasts a reservoir and a nature reserve. If you prefer a nature trail, you can access the shared-use Anthill trails from this route, which are also out-and-backs.Once you've seen enough, or are starting to get tuckered out, simply return the way that you came. If you complete this outing from end to end, you'll have traveled out nearly 6.5 miles, making a full trip nearly 13 miles!
