The route as shown here is just one possible example of a run or walk someone can do from the Bishop Canal parking area. The roads are well maintained by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, but you'll likely not see any cars or vehicles on the dirt roads. You'll likely see locals walking their dogs, the odd cow and calf, or a runner on an interval training run. The route starts by heading south down the valley, away from town out to Gus Casbaugh Lane (another dirt road). The route takes a turn toward the east and faces the White Mountains range. This route turns north at the soonest opportunity on a wide dirt road along another canal. That road turns slowly north-west, winding along a canal, eventually making its way back to the original canal where you began your hike. Turn north and you'll soon be back where you began.Disclaimer 1: There are few if any signs along this route! If you don't know where you're going, it is recommended to bring a navigation tool.Disclaimer 2: This route and review was added by a man in his early 30's. The public has open access to these roads, including vehicles. These roads are very rural and at certain hours are largely unoccupied. I have heard from more than one female friend that running alone around dawn or dusk has felt uncomfortable for various reasons. Be safe. Running with friends is better anyways.
