There and Back
The Confluence Trail is an out and back hike located within the 344 acre Confluence Park of La Verkin, Utah. It is an enjoyable and easy walk, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy the area or find a couple of great swimming holes along the Virgin River here. You can begin from the SR-9 Trailhead or the La Verkin Creek Trailhead. If beginning from Highway 9 you'll have stunning views down to the Virgin River to start with. You'll descend down to the river where the trail turns into nice singletrack. There is also a great swimming hole here.Continue ahead, the trail eventually turning back to doubletrack. An interesting sight is the abandoned 1929 power plant building. You'll then come to a footbridge leading across the river. The Confluence Trail continues straight, but of course you can venture across the river to explore a new area if you wish. There is also a popular, small climbing area on some basalt cliffs here, as well as a few picnic tables and another great swimming hole.Continue along the Confluence Trail as it follows an easy to walk gravel road and eventually ends at the La Verkin Creek Trailhead. Unless exploring some of the other trails in the area, return the way you came.
