Maricopa Regional Trail: Spur Cross to Cave Creek Park

The Maricopa Regional Trail is planned and partially constructed multi-modal trail network that will stretch over 1,500 miles and connect the nine major parks in Maricopa County. This section of the Maricopa Regional Trail is fairly remote and is mostly on State Trust Land but the trail is managed by Maricopa County Parks and the Town of Cave Creek. The trail is a mix of dirt road, old jeep trail, and technical sections through a rocky dry wash. There can be lots of rattlesnakes in this area during warm weather. A sort side trip will take you to Apache Spring which is one of the last remaining natural springs in the area. During the spring and summer, rare canyon treefrogs can be heard calling along with spadefoot toads and lowland leopard frogs.
