Access Issues
C2C Trail restricts campfires to established campgrounds at Big Elk Campground near Harlan, and, eventually, at the Brian Booth State Park at Ona Beach. Two situations guide this restriction: 1) the absence of adequate water to properly extinguish the fire; and 2) the presence of the threatened species, the marbled murrelet (MaMu).

Description
This is the eastern half of the C2C route which uses mainly a mixture of private and county roads and multi-use paths with a bit of existing and new trail. This half runs about 30 miles from Corvallis to Big Elk Campground west of Harlan. About five miles of this route are on Forest Service land. The only permit needed to use the now-open eastern 30 miles of the C2C Trail route is a Starker Forest permit for a four-mile gated segment of Old Peak Road west of Philomath. These permits are available at the Starker Forest Office at 7240 SW Philomath Blvd. The office is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Permits may be suspended during late summer periods of heat and low humidity.
