Description
The Takena Landing Trail (also known as the Eagle Trail) parallels the Willamette River and is a 3.5-mile out-and-back. Near the parking area is a boat ramp for access to the Willamette. This area also seems to attract transients, so be careful and donat hang around after dark. Once on trail, youall be walking among large cottonwood trees and undergrowth made up of masses of blackberry bushes and ivy. The trail is well shaded and a great hike during hot weather. A few highlights include walking by the Albany Golf Club and under a railroad trestle bridge. Unfortunately, there are very few views or opportunities to access the Willamette River on this trail (the best spot being at the trailhead). After you reach the end of the trail and the small loop, return the way you came back to the parking lot.
