White Rock Canyon

This route is through a wash and wide slot canyons made of red and gold volcanic rock. There are also white granite rocks that have washed down and settled among the volcanic rock. The contrast in colors is amazing. You'll see ringbolts embedded in rocks along the river; these bolts have been there since before the Hoover Dam was built. They were there so that steamboats could attach cables and pull themselves over large rapids. These rapids are now tamed by the Hoover Dam and steamboats can no longer take this path. Once you get to the Colorado River, the path cuts back up away from the river over to Arizona Hot Springs. At the hot springs, you'll encounter a 20-foot ladder that you'll have to climb in order to continue on the trail where it connects to the Hot Spring Canyon Upper Trail.
