Rogers Canyon

Rogers Canyon is a short section of canyon narrows through the middle of tall amphitheater-like bends accessed from the Rogers Warm Spring area.A wash from the mountainous landscape just above the warm springs gets funneled through this narrow canyon, and for a half mile section, the wash twists and bends beneath sheer and expansive rock walls and formations. Hikers will reach the top of the canyon by climbing 1.25 miles up a mountainous single track from the warm springs area before entering the canyon from a wide wash atop that then turns narrow. No ropes are necessary to follow the canyon down, however there are numerous points when carefully gripping your way down and scrambling down the sandy and rocky path is necessary.Once in the canyon, natural arches and amazing cathedral formations line the hike down. It's extremely unlikely you'll cross paths with anyone else out here, and this hike does a great job of mixing scenery with just communicating the feeling of how small one really is amidst this overarching desert landscape.From the bottom of the canyon, the wash widens. While this section changes after any wet conditions, keep an eye out for a path that climbs from the wash to the right, as it will lead back to the warm springs parking area.Rogers Warm Spring makes a nice pond to wade into on a hot day, and covered picnic benches are set along the water. A vault toilet is also available in the parking area.Visitors should keep in mind that there is no water and no cel service in this section of the park.
