Rogers Spring Overlook

The trail to Rogers Spring Overlook is a short hike leading from the warm springs oasis up to a rocky (and sometimes very windy) promontory overlooking the area.As Rogers Warm Spring lies pretty far from the end of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area nearest to the the Las Vegas/Boulder City areas, the spring and nearby trails see a relatively small number of visitors. This is great for those who venture here to find some rewarding trails that are usually empty of other hikers.The Overlook Trail begins just across the small bridge from the warm springs. A single track trail begins climbing right away, following a gradual but consistent grade as it wraps around the hillside and heads up the low mountains. The track is easy to follow, the only thing that should be noted is where the turnoff is for the overlook, as the easy-to-miss path would instead lead one into Rogers Canyon on a much harder hike.As the trail nears the endpoint, it becomes more faint. The wind can be harrowing up here, however if conditions are right, hikers will be treated to an epic panoramic view of the Lake Mead area stretching out in either direction. With the mountains standing up behind you, it's incredible to take in this environment from the rocky perch.From here, retrace your route back down. If the day is hot, you can go for a quick dip in the warm springs pond, or eat at the covered picnic benches set around the water.There are vault toilets and picnic benches, but no other amenities. There is also no cel service here.As it is located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, visitors must pay a park entrance fee to access the Rogers Warm Spring area.
