Loop
The trail is well-traveled and clearly marked. It does intersect with the West Side Loop Trail, so you'll have to pay attention to where you are going so as to avoid the much longer trail. The trail is comprised of loose sand and rock. Overall, the trail is well-maintained and easy to navigate. Some areas are wide enough for two, but for the most part is singletrack. Being a loop, it can be done in either direction. Going clockwise from the parking lot does have a steeper climb as the elevation is gained in less than 0.5 miles. The steeper parts of the trail have rock steps built in and are well-made, although shorter visitors will notice some are a bit high. This leads to a nice overlook of the surrounding area and a view of the peaks in Big Bear. The western part of the trail is more gradual in the elevation. The trail also has numerous benches to sit and enjoy the views (or take a rest). This route is rated as intermediate due to the quickness of the elevation changes.
