Arroyo Trail

Arroyo Trail carves hrough the golden hills of Tilden Regional Park, gaining 600 feet in just under 1 mile. Hikers will enjoy views of Tildenas oak and eucalyptus lined canyons in addition to the San Francisco Bay in the distance. The trail begins at Arroyo picnic area on South Park Drive and terminates at Seaview Trail. Hikers seeking panoramic Bay Area views need only continue another quarter mile to reach the top of Vollmer Peak. In the winter months (November 1 through March 31) when South Park Drive is closed to autos to protect migrating newts, Arroyo Trail can be reached by striking out on Vollmer Peak or Seaview trails. Bikes are not allowed on Arroyo Trail, and horses are prohibited when wet conditions prevail.
