Paynes Prairie Preserve Loop

Starting at the parking area off the eastern shore of Lake Wauburg, this hike follows the Lake Trail as it makes its way north through dense forest. Eventually the Lake Trail reaches a junction with the Jackson's Gap Trail. Bear right at the junction to continue on the hike. At the next junction, the hike heads left to follow the Chacala Trail, ultimately looping around to the same junction from before. Once you've made the loop and enjoyed the area's wildlife to your heart's content, simply head back along the Jackson's Gap Trail and Lake Trail to reach the parking area.
