Description
The trail enters the woods (look for a sign on a tree) from the bottom of the road at the Camp Calumet Conference Center. Please park at the Ossipee Pine Barrens parking area to the west. The trail heads west, staying just north of the Ossipee Lake Road. The trail passes the Ossipee Pine Barrens parking area, then enters a pine and scrub oak forest. The trail coincides with the Forest Ecology Loop for a short ways, then the Forest Ecology Loop leaves to the right and West Branch Trail continues forward to the left. The trail stays to the northeast of a sandy open area, then takes a large turn east before arching west. It ties into a dirt road, follows it to the right, and then stays east of the West Branch. It runs to Junction 41E. Here, at the junction, the trail to the left is the Pine Barrens Loop Trail - North. The West Branch Trail continues straight, then runs into junction D. Taking a right here would lead you on the Powerline Trail. The trail continues past the powerlines and ends at East Shore Drive, just south of Silver Lake. For Pine Barrens Trail, take a left onto East Shore Drive. For the Cooks Pond Trail, Jackman Ridge Summit Trail, or Old Pequawket Trail, follow East Shore Drive or Lead Mine Road to the right.
