Description
Mount Roberts is a 2,582 foot mountain in the Ossipee Range near Moultonborough, New Hampshire. It is part of the Lakes Region Conservation Trust property. This adventure is a great bang-for-your-buck hike with many scenic views from overlooks and along the open ledges.Park in the Castle in the Clouds property near the Upper Trailhead Kiosk. Head towards Shannon Pond and follow the road left at the fork toward the barn. As you approach the barn, continue toward the corner of the fenced-in field where it reaches the woods. This corner marks the trailhead for the Mount Roberts trail. The beginning of the trail is wide, soft, and continues at gentle grades as it starts to climb up Roberts Ridge. Around 1 mile, there is a sign for a 50 yard spur trail to an overlook. From here, the trail continues climbing and eventually reaches open ledges that provide incredible views towards Lake Winnipesaukee. As the trail approaches the summit, it reenters the woods. The summit is marked by a large cairn and summit sign. There are limited views north towards the White Mountain National Forest from the summit of Mount Roberts. To get back to the parking area, retrace your steps back down.
